Online Transfer Students
Finish what you started with Loyola Online.
Loyola University New Orleans will partner with you to make the transfer process as simple and straightforward as possible. Find out how you can finish what you started and earn your degree from Loyola Online.
Start Your Application
As a transfer student, you can get started by completing Loyola’s no-cost online application for your program of choice—it takes as little as 10 minutes. Keep in mind that graduate and nursing programs may have additional application requirements for individual programs.
As soon as you submit your application, Loyola will order your post-secondary transcripts at no-charge to you! Please note that we cannot guarantee that we will be able to obtain transcripts for every student. If you have a hold on your account or any other reason that prevents us from obtaining your transcripts, then you will be responsible for providing your official transcripts.
Applicants are required to submit official transcripts from every postsecondary institution attended. Application decisions can be made based on unofficial transcripts if official transcripts are unavailable; however, official transcripts are required before final acceptance. If you are applying to an undergraduate program and have fewer than 12 semester credit hours completed, then you must also provide your official high school transcript or GED.
Official transcripts can be sent by email to online@nfmy6688.com or by post to:
Loyola University New Orleans
6363 St. Charles Avenue
Marquette 320 - Box 43
New Orleans, LA 70118
Please Note: All paper transcripts received by mail must be in the original sealed, unopened envelope from the institution where the coursework was completed for the transcript to be considered official. Electronic transcripts are considered official if sent directly from the institution or transcript service (e.g., National Student Clearinghouse, Parchment, Scrip-Safe).
The credits you have already earned will be considered for transfer to our online degree programs. Credit evaluations are automatically completed upon admittance. We accept courses with a grade of C or higher from any accredited two-year or four-year institution. Your academic advisor will help make your schedule to ensure completion of your degree. Loyola offers articulation agreements with several colleges, making the transfer process even easier.
Undergraduate Students: We can accept up to 90 credits, with at least 25% of credit hours required to be earned at Loyola. At least 50% of the credit hours in the major courses must be earned through instruction offered by Loyola.
International students who are interested in transferring to Loyola Online may have additional application requirements. If you did not attend a secondary or postsecondary institution where English was the primary language of instruction, you will be required to submit an official TOEFL, IELTS, or DuoLingo score report.
If you have attended or completed coursework outside of the United States, you’ll need to complete a third-party evaluation of academic records (transcripts) from World Education Services (WES) or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE).
Financial Aid
You have affordable options at Loyola Online. Learn about applying for financial aid and don’t forget to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)—this is the first step for federal grants and student loans. You don’t have to wait for an admission decision to submit yours!
Tuition and Fees
Learn about the accessible tuition costs for our online programs. Loyola Online charges by the credit hour so you can choose a schedule that fits your budget. Your exact tuition costs and fees will depend on your program and the number of credit hours you’re enrolled in per session.
What courses does Loyola Online accept for transfer credit?
Here at Loyola we accept credits with a C or higher from any two-year or four-year accredited college or university. Transfer credit evaluations are based on previous college work as it relates to your intended field of study. Credits earned in developmental and remedial courses are non-transferable.
When can I receive a credit evaluation?
Credit evaluations are automatically provided to accepted students within 10 days of admission.
Is it possible to receive a credit evaluation sooner?
Yes, a credit evaluation can be completed prior to an application being submitted and/or a decision being released upon request from the student. They must provide an unofficial transcript from each school they previously attended in order for a credit evaluation to be completed.
I noticed a course I completed was not included on my credit evaluation. How can I make sure it’s included?
If you notice a course you completed is not included in your credit evaluation, and you feel that it should be, please bring this up with your online advisor. Often, different colleges and universities may title courses differently than we do, and therefore we may ask for a course description or syllabus to determine if it is equivalent to a course we offer here at Loyola.
